A New Camera

Well, new to me anyway. For the last 2 or 3 years I have been using my iPhone 14 to take photographs. For a phone camera it isn’t bad, but I never really got to grips with being able to control the focus and depth of field properly. Recently, I went to Barra (Outer Hebrides) for a week with my friend and became increasingly frustrated that I couldn’t get the images I wanted. I made the desicion to go back to dSLR photography. At home, I dug out all my old camera gear- I still have several film cameras (might explore that at a later date) and a Canon EOS350D. The sensor on that is too small for my current requirements, so I had a look on MPB (online second hand photography equipment dealers). I found a Canon EOS5Dv4, a camera I had wanted when it was first released, that would work with quite a lot of the kit I still had (lenses, filters etc). All MPB items come with a 12 month warranty, so I ordered it.

I have now had this beast for about 3 weeks and am still getting my head around using it, many of the controls are what I am used to, and even after a 10 year break things have come flooding back. Of course there have been many developments and I am gradually finding my way round the extensive menu. Post-processing is interesting, and I am learning there too.

Above is an image I have taken with the 5D, and I am very much looking forward to going out and about for some more photography exploration.
